Target Audience

This training is suitable for designated protection safeguarding leads, or those responsible for safeguarding  protection children.

Professionals gaining a better understanding about safeguarding children across the Haringey Safeguarding Children Partnership.

An open space to discuss grey areas and scenarios which would warrant a safeguarding referral.

 

Training Description

This training program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals, ensuring they are well-prepared to protect and support children effectively.

The key areas of focus include:

Explore differences between roles and responsibilities 

Signs of Safety Model

Learn about and understand the child protection process. 

Explore thresholds in child protection.

Explore & understand children’s needs within a safeguarding context 

 

Learning Objectives

To understand the distinct roles and responsibilities of professionals involved in safeguarding and child protection, ensuring effective collaboration and accountability.

To learn about the Signs of Safety approach, a strengths-based and safety-focused model that enhances child protection practice by involving families in the assessment and planning process

To examine the criteria and thresholds used to determine the level of intervention required in child protection cases, ensuring that decisions are made consistently and appropriately

To explore the diverse needs of children within the context of safeguarding and the importance of a child centred approach

To understand professionals’ role in strategy meetings

To encourage participants to ensure they have understanding of their individual organisation’s child protection procedures
